Employers ensure that your current Drug-free Workplace policies comply with the most recent local and State laws. That being said, zero-tolerance drug policies in the workplace can be enforced, including banning marijuana on-the-job or on the premises.
Those employers choosing to keep the marijuana testing as part of their pre-employment process should switch to oral testing – if they haven’t already. That method is able to detect only what has been used in the last 24 to 48 hours, is less costly than urine testing and is easier to administer.
Don’t forget that marijuana possession and use is still a federal crime. There are no changes for CDL drivers where they are mandated for federal drug testing.
