Been super busy with mock job interviews lately. I find a common problem with candidates taking their answers too far. Keep your answers specific, concise, and to the point. Ask if they want an example or further explanation. Turn off your rehearsed “auto-pilot” and fully listen to the interviewer’s question and watch for your interviewer’s non-verbal clues. #jobs #recruitertips #careercoaching #interviews
To my Clients in Sales – Refresh and reflect the customers’ needs in your resume and profile.
Used to be, selling included making cold calls and impressing customers with your knowledge of “You need this. Or You have to have that”. But technology has changed consumer spending habits– customers now are irritated with cold calls and have the opportunity to do their own online homework on products and services.
But this change is not a bad thing, why?
Because Sales Representatives now have to start by listening to the consumers’ needs first. Sales is more solution based now more than ever.
Be sure to include in your resume and profiles this change and emphasis on problem-solving and building long term client relationships.

I learned secondary education methods in college. I had 25+ years of training / coaching management and employees. However, there is always more to learn!
I chose to switch professional associations from Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) to NCDA as my focus had changed. I now want to meet and learn from my career coach and counselor colleagues. I also want to keep up to date on new technology and career development methods.
Are you actively participating in a professional association? If not, why?
