Don't let age be a barrier for your next job. Many employers are seeking the skills, experience and attitude possessed by workers over age 50.
Here are 3 good tips in getting noticed by hiring employers:
You have a lot to offer employers. Remember that you've been there and done that. Be convincing and show employers how hiring you will provide solutions to their current business problems.
Of course, it’s easier to brag about working for a Fortune 500 company, but don’t pass up the rewards of growing with a new start up business:
1. Working for a startup business is a chance “to get in” on the building phase. There’s opportunity to express your ideas and use your creative talents, instead of having to follow the “Old Guard” stagnant process in a long-established business.
2. Smaller companies mean there’s better chances to work directly with the company’s main decision maker – the owner. You won’t be part of a large department and never having the access to key leadership members.
3. Your work is more noticed and appreciated. It’s easier to see the results of one’s contributions when employed for a small company. Any effort that forwards the company is easily noticed with direct appreciation for that effort.
The rewards are worth the risks. Remember life begins at the end of your comfort zone!
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
