My son Paul called last week, “Hey Mom can you help?”.
Paul is a RN in the Emergency Department at Michigan Health aka University of Michigan Hospital. He was an ER Tech for many years before earning his BSN and becoming a RN last year.
A few short months ago – it was “all hands-on deck” and staff were moved from their regular floors and duties to work on the Covid-19 floors. Now as the patient census has returned to normal, 38 of 50 Techs were notified last week that they were permanently laid off.
Paul asked if I could help them with resumes and career coaching. I called Lori to see how she felt about taking on this number at no cost. She quickly agreed!
Be watching later this week after we finish with this group’s resumes. We will be offering a special rate to help other medical staff laid off after Covid-19 with their resume and career coaching.

Just a quick reminder .... your resume info should be the same on your LinkedIn profile. Is your image on FB, Twitter, Snapchat and other social media platforms the same image you want to project in your career?
Open to thoughts and comments. Have a good weekend!

Bloomberg reports today that US jobless rate unexpectedly fell in May as hiring rebounded. Non-farm payroll rose by 2.5 million after a 20.7 million dive for the month of April ; dropping the rate from 14.7% to 13.3%.
I understand that far too many are still laid off and that the effects of the Covid-19 and now the violent riots will continue to affect our unemployment rate, but it’s still a positive sign during a very dark period.
Personally, I think people feel better about themselves when they have a place to go, a reason to get up in the morning and something to strive for.
As I’ve always said, “Life is work – and work is life”. Can’t speak for everyone, but work brings me a sense of self-worth. What’s your thoughts?
